With the progress of higher precision and higher quality die and molds, there is a need for higher precision and automated measurement technology for cutting tools. We have developed a new floating chuck system that utilizes our knowledge and technology in the manufacturing of cutting tools. We have applied this to high precision measurement of the outer diameter and runout of round tools such as endmills, developing Mikro Welt nano9, a laser measuring instrument that can perform highly efficient easurements with good reproducibility in the manufacturing site environment. Measuring and managing dimensions such as the outer diameter, length, R surface, C surface, step length, step angle, and R accuracy of round tools is important for high precision die and mold machining. We have developed the Mikro Welt nano X5, a rotating projection image measuring instrument. We exhibit the characteristics of these measuring instruments, measurement performance, and measurement examples of end mills.
